Centaur of the Crime

Kidnapped to a world of magic, can Dayna Chrissie use forensic science to solve a royal murder…before centaurs and humans plunge headlong to war?

C.S. Lewis meets CSI when Dayna Chrissie, the LAPD’s best crime scene analyst, finds a golden medallion on a body that’s been unceremoniously dumped at a construction site. At first, she doesn’t think the find’s that unusual. Until that medallion’s enchantment transports her to the magical world of Andeluvia.

Dayna’s been summoned out of desperation: Someone’s murdered the king, and if she can’t solve the mystery, human and centaur realms plunge headlong into war! But nobody wants peace when war offers chances for riches and glory. So Dayna ends up with a team of cast-offs: a centaur wizard with father issues, a brash griffin warrior, and the world’s unluckiest magical deer.

And the trail leads where she least expects it…back home! When the evidence brings Dayna and her new friends back to Los Angeles, she must use all of her knowledge of forensics in order to solve the case.

The price of failure? A war that will kill millions and devastate Andeluvia.

Hope she works best under pressure.

Reviews of the Fantasy & Forensics Series:

Angel manages the nearly impossible…creating memorable characters in the midst of an intriguing mystery, action, humor and heart. — JC Andrijeski, USA Today Bestselling Author of the Quentin Black Mystery series

This clever, humorous fantasy springs to life from page one… — Publisher’s Weekly

Fast-paced action and sly wit make Angel’s writing irresistible fun. — Rebecca Moesta, NYT Bestselling co-author of Young Jedi Knights

Q – What makes the Fantasy & Forensics series special?

A – I’ve enjoyed epic sword and sorcery types of fantasy since I was old enough to pick up a paperback. At the same time, I’ve always been a mystery fan – specifically, of those classic thriller or suspense novels that kept you up all night to finish them.

So I wrote the F&F books as a unique mix of the two genres. Crime Scene Analyst Dayna Chrissie has to solve some nefarious wrongdoing in each book using forensic science – but in a world of sorcery and mythical creatures!

Q – Why should readers give these books a try?

A – Because you’ll get to meet a bunch of memorable characters – knights, centaurs, griffins, and magical fey deer – in the midst of intriguing mysteries filled with action, humor and heart. (Yes, I paraphrased one of my earliest reviewers, but I simply can’t put it any better than that.)

Q – Tell us more about series protagonist Dayna Chrissie – what makes her tick?

A – Dayna starts out as that person you always find at the office on a Saturday. She loves solving the mysteries that everyone else has failed to crack.

Over the course of this book and its sequels, Dayna learns that ‘working’ is not the same thing as ‘living’. So she becomes attached to her group of friends, to the point that they become like family. This serves her well as she encounters wizards, dragons, phoenix, demons, wyverns, and unicorns in her later journeys!

Q – Do readers have to read each book in the series in a specific order?

A – Not necessarily! Each novel is self-contained and doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, so you could pick up a book from anywhere in the series and enjoy it.

On the other hand, it’s fun watching Dayna’s friendships and companions grow closer to her over time. There’s also a couple over-arching themes and plots that unfold in the later books. So reading in order might bring its own rewards too.

Raven Marked

Raven’s never been one for fairy tales, especially not the ones where a mischievous sprite explodes in pink goo, an imp smells of old boots and bong resin, or she ends up with a demon god’s tattoos. But in the gritty, magic-soaked twin cities of Dusk and Dawn, fairy tales are very real – and Raven’s just been unwillingly cast as the reluctant harbinger of the apocalypse.

As a ‘gifted thief’ (and a street rat, thank you very much), Raven’s used to sticky situations. But a botched heist at the Malachi family manor lands her squarely in a supernatural turf war. With ancient Infernal gods vying for control, a newly awakened Fae royalty planting enchanted trees all over Dusk, and a secret government agency (headed by a detective Raven totally isn’t sleeping with) watching her every move, Raven’s got a lot on her plate.

Good thing she’s got Mia, her sprite-summoning apprentice (whose creatures are as unpredictable as her loyalty), and Caleb, her crime boss father-figure (who always seems to be torturing someone). Together, they’ll navigate a world of mind-flaying Fae, sword-wielding zealots in white tracksuits, and deadly magical artifacts like Rowan’s Ravenous Maw.

Can Raven survive long enough to figure out who’s pulling the strings, stop the world from ending (again), and maybe, just maybe, get these infernal tattoos to stop itching? Or will she discover that being “Ruin Marked” means more than just a really bad day?

Dive into Raven Marked for a snarky, action-packed urban fantasy that will make you question everything you thought you knew about magic, family, and the true meaning of a bad day.

The Time Travelling Tourist

He never imagined he’d be playing God that day.
Brian Partridge leapt at the chance to buy the personal property of his favorite historical author following his death, although what he received was far more than he bargained for. It didn’t take him long to discover just how the author was able to write scenes from the past with such accuracy.
Of course, Brian was familiar with time machines in movies, but that was fictional—not real—and yet, before him stood one of his very own. He knew he shouldn’t step inside and turn it on, but the temptation was more than he could bear.
Following in his hero’s footsteps, Brian starts off on an adventure that he could never have imagined, although the dream begins to drift into a nightmare as he encounters dangers more than he can handle. Now he’s barely one step ahead of the FBI, who would love to get their hands on the man swirling his finger in the sands of time.

Note from the author: This is a dark and gritty reboot of the humorous Crimson Deathbringer series. Please see “From the Author” for more information. If you’ve read and enjoyed the original series, I don’t think you should read this; you’ll probably hate it. On the other hand, if you read The Crimson Deathbringer and liked the story but not the comedy, maybe give this version a chance.

The Days After The Music Died

The Days After The Music Died is a Dystopian novel about a post EMP world. A family struggles to escape the madness that is burning the cities and reach a refuge they established on a Mississippi River island. October second appeared to have the makings of a nice day even though Richard Erickson wouldn’t be able to enjoy much of it. He would soon be starting a twelve hour shift in the Emergency Room at San Francisco County Hospital. The young man would complete his medical internship in eleven months. Richard’s day began at seven, when he showered, dressed, and stopped by Mickey D’s for breakfast. By the time he reached the Bay Bridge, the sun was breaking through the fog, and the Oldies Rock on his special playlist had just finished Buddy Holly’s “Peggy Sue”. Halfway through his second cup of coffee, with the stereo now playing Richi Valens “La Bamba”, Richard felt that life was good. As he approached the Treasure Island exit, the Tahoe died, along with the stereo. Taking a quick look at the gas gauge, he saw the whole panel was dead. Coasting to the curb, he noticed that his car was not the only one stopped. Nothing was moving.“Oh Shit. its really hit the fan!” he exclaimed. A quick check of his iPhone revealed that it too was dead. Richard opened the door and stepped out. A man in a Tesla jumped out as smoke burst from under the hood. “What the hell is going on?” He demanded. Richard answered. “I think we got hit by an EMP attack.” “What does that mean?” “It means the end of the world as we know it. I suggest you get home any way you can. It will be bad everywhere, with no power, water, or food.” The man looked unconvinced. He then looked over to his burning car. Without a word, he started toward the off ramp.
