Better Off Dead

Legendary Celtic Bladesmith, Tallis Black, is dark, brooding and definitely dangerous.

I know I shouldn't trust the immortal Druid, but he's my only chance at surviving the Underground City.

Right, I've gotten ahead of myself. So, long story short, I died when I was hit by a truck full of chickens. Right, I literally got chick-filleted.

But it wasn’t my time to go.

So, why did I go cluck-cluck-die?

Answer: Bill, my guardian angel (obviously light on the 'guardian' part).

As soon as the afterlife learned my death was indirectly their fault (Bill was on their payroll), they offered me the chance to live again, but beware the fine print.

Fine print = choosing a new body, moving to Scotland, and becoming a Soul Retriever which means I spend most my time venturing into the bowels of the Underground City to retrieve spirits mistakenly sent there during a Y2K glitch. Seriously.

And my guides?

This is the ridiculous part: Bil, my not so guardian angel.

But he isn't the only one.

Enter Tallis Black--a man who hates himself almost as much as he hates the rest of the world. I'm not sure why Tallis is offering his help, but I either take it or risk dying... again.

Between soul retrieving in hell, dealing with Bill and trying to figure out what’s in it for Tallis, I’m pretty sure I would’ve been better off dead.
