Blood on Their Hands

Hiram Garbuncle is a veteran criminal defense attorney—as well as a racist, miserly alcoholic. Alec Monceau is a black man working near West Palm Beach. It is 2008, and his car carries an Obama bumper sticker. This leads to a traffic stop and brutal beating by police. Garbuncle’s journalist friend pressures him to defend Alec from a wrongful charge of violently resisting arrest, and the attorney’s negligence in jury selection results in a mistrial. He then discovers incriminating evidence on the cops, and his new challenge becomes how to keep himself and his client alive pending a new trial.
